China’s New Tourist Destination: Saudi Arabia

31 July 2024

Saudi Arabia has granted Approved Destination Status (ADS) to China starting July 1, 2024, following its participation in the China roadshow and ITB China in Shanghai. This move aims to strengthen economic ties, boost tourism, and foster mutual understanding. The ADS designation marks a key step for group travel, with Saudi Arabia preparing to make China its third-largest source market for international arrivals by 2030. Efforts include increasing direct flights, tailored products, strategic partnerships, and enhancing experiences for Chinese tourists. Saudi Arabia aims to attract five million Chinese tourists by 2030, significantly increasing flight capacity and connectivity.
