The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is set to welcome back the highly anticipated Kingdom Duathlon for its second edition, coinciding with the Saudi National Day festivities on September 22-23, 2024, in Riyadh. This event, which combines running and cycling, has expanded its offerings this year with the introduction of two new categories: the Team Relay Duathlon and the Under 8 Kids Duathlon, ensuring that participants of all ages and abilities can be a part of the action.
The first day of the event will kick off with the Kids Duathlon, which is divided into three age groups: Under 8, 8-10 years, and 11-14 years. With the Under 8 group completing a 500m run, 1km bike ride, and a 250m run, followed by older age groups tackling longer distances, allowing young athletes to experience the thrill of the duathlon.
The highlight of the day will be the 3km Saudi National Day Fun Run, open to participants of all ages, where families and individuals can join in the celebration by running through a lively atmosphere.
The second day brings more excitement with the Sprint Duathlon, offering both individual and relay team options for those aged 15 and above. Participants will test their endurance through a 5km run, a 20km bike ride, followed by a final 2.5km run, all set against the scenic backdrop of the King Abdulaziz Equestrian Field. Sponsored by the Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia, the Sprint Duathlon promises to challenge seasoned athletes while welcoming newcomers to the sport.
In recognition of their efforts, all participants will receive a finisher medal, while the top three finishers in each category—men, women, and kids—will be awarded special trophies. Additionally, all participants will be given a digital certificate and personalized photos and videos to commemorate their achievement.
The Kingdom Duathlon promises to be a vibrant celebration of fitness, community, and national pride, offering something for everyone, from kids to elite athletes, making this year’s event an unmissable part of the Saudi National Day festivities.
