Cristiano Ronaldo recently shared insights into his plans for retirement, sparking conversations about the future of the legendary footballer. Although the 39-year-old star recently represented Portugal in the UEFA Euro Tournament, questions about his ongoing role with the national team have been swirling. However, Ronaldo made it clear that he isn’t ready to step away just yet. His current focus is on helping his team in the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches.
During an interview with Portuguese TV channel Now, Ronaldo discussed how he envisions the end of his international career. “When I decide to leave the national team, it will be a decision made in the moment but one that I’ve carefully considered. I won’t announce it in advance. Right now, my main goal is to contribute to the national team’s success in the upcoming Nations League,” Ronaldo said.
As for his club career, Ronaldo expressed contentment with his current situation at Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, hinting that he might end his playing days there. “I’m not sure if retirement is near—maybe in two or three years—but it’s likely that I’ll finish my career here at Al-Nassr. I’m very happy at this club and feel good in this country. I want to continue playing here,” Ronaldo stated.
Looking beyond football, fans have speculated about what the future holds for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, with some hoping he might transition into a coaching role. However, Ronaldo dispelled those rumors, saying, “At this moment, I don’t see myself becoming a coach, whether for a first team or any other. I envision my future outside of football, but only God knows what lies ahead.”
Recently, Ronaldo launched a YouTube channel that quickly amassed over 45 million subscribers, suggesting that media and social media could be the next chapter in his career after football.
