In recent years, endurance sports have captured the imagination of athletes and enthusiasts around the world. From marathons that test the limits of human stamina to ultra races that push the boundaries of physical and mental strength, endurance events have become more popular than ever. These challenges not only provide a platform for athletes to showcase their determination and grit but also offer participants a unique opportunity to engage with stunning landscapes and historical sites.

AlUla is undoubtedly one of the most breathtaking places in Saudi Arabia, and perhaps even the world. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is known for its stunning caverns nestled between majestic mountains and its rich, millennia-old history. It’s only fitting that such an incredible landscape serves as the backdrop for one of the region’s most exciting races—the AlUla Desert Blaze.

Scheduled for August 24, with a mandatory briefing on the 23rd of August, the AlUla Desert Blaze invites participants to race through some of the area’s most iconic landmarks, including the ancient tombs of Hegra, the striking Maraya building, and more. The event features four challenging race categories:

  • 5-Kilometer Race: This scenic route takes runners through Hegra and the Nabatean tombs. Open to participants aged 16 and up, registration is priced at SAR 70.
  • 10-Kilometer Race: A longer route that provides a deeper exploration of Hegra. This race, also for those aged 16 and up, costs SAR 120.
  • 21-Kilometer Race: This half-marathon involves two loops around Hegra, testing your endurance and strength. Open to participants aged 18 and up, registration is priced at SAR 200.
  • 42-Kilometer Marathon: The ultimate challenge, this full marathon stretches from Hegra to Maraya and back. This category, for participants aged 18 and up, costs SAR 350.

All races will kick off at 8 a.m., with water stations and emergency spots along each route for support. Registration is now open, so make sure to secure your spot for this unforgettable experience.
