ROSHN Reveals Massive 45,000-Seater Stadium in Riyadh

01 August 2024

A new 45,000-seater stadium is set to be built in southwest Riyadh, according to a statement from ROSHN Group on Tuesday. This mixed-use project, spanning 450,000 square meters, will include shops, restaurants, and hospitality venues.

The stadium will feature a modern design inspired by Saudi Arabia’s central region’s urban and architectural elements. It is designed to host major international sporting events and will also be a venue for various entertainment, cultural, and social gatherings.

The sustainable design will incorporate advanced water and energy management technologies, including solar panels and a roof that promotes air movement and controlled sunlight access.

Khalid Johar, acting CEO of ROSHN Group, emphasized that the stadium reflects ROSHN’s strategic shift as a multi-asset class developer. He highlighted the project’s contribution to improving quality of life, supporting economic growth in line with Saudi Vision 2030, and enhancing Riyadh’s appeal for international events.

Additionally, a 47,000-capacity arena named the Aramco Stadium will be built in Alkhobar in the Eastern Province, following an agreement between ROSHN Group and Saudi Aramco. Expected to be operational by 2026, this stadium will host local and international events, including the 2027 Asian Cup. Inspired by the whirlpools off the Arabian Gulf coast, it will meet high standards of inclusiveness, safety, and sustainability.

These projects align with the Quality-of-Life Program and Saudi Vision 2030, promoting sports and enhancing the Kingdom’s ability to host international competitions, thereby boosting the sports economy.
