Saudi Arabia to Build the World’s Tallest Sports Tower

30 July 2024

The design for the world’s tallest sports tower is set to be built in Riyadh’s Sports Boulevard development.

This ambitious project is part of the $23 billion initiative launched by King Salman in 2019 to expand green spaces in the capital, which will also include the world’s largest city park. The other components of this massive development are King Salman Park, Green Riyadh, and Riyadh Art.

The Sports Boulevard Foundation board, chaired by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman, approved the design. The 130-meter Global Sports Tower will boast an internal area of 84,000 square meters, featuring over 30 different sports facilities.

Highlights of the tower include the world’s tallest indoor climbing wall at 98 meters and the highest digitized running track, spanning 250 meters.

The 135km Sports Boulevard project will connect the west to the east of Riyadh through a network of green pathways for pedestrians, cyclists, athletes, and horse riders. The project will feature more than 4.4 million square meters of greenery and open spaces, along with up to 50 multidisciplinary sports facilities.

Additionally, over three million square meters will be dedicated to unique destinations and investment zones.
